Housing

Housing returns with shared zones, interactive decor and housemates — and deliberately without the land rush of the original ArcheAge.

What the studio has confirmed

Housing is one of the systems XLGAMES promised to carry over from ArcheAge, and one of those it has most clearly redesigned: the studio has said in writing that it is avoiding the land rush that soured housing in the original game.

The executive producer’s letter of 31 July 2025 puts housing among the systems returning “just... better”, and describes three concrete changes: “Shared housing areas. Decor you can actually interact with. NPCs who feel like housemates, not decorations.”

The developer diary of 10 October 2024 adds that the housing system “allows players to extensively customize their homes to their liking” and that players “can also meet housemates to share and personalize your living space together”.

we're using a channel-based system that allows for shared, persistent housing zones – spaces where multiple players can own homes … within each zone, there are multiple "channels" – not unlike parallel versions of the same village or district.

The documented account

Source-backed accountLimits remain explicit
No player cities, and that is deliberate

Asked directly about building towns with friends or guildmates, the team answered in the Wccftech interview of 1 August 2025 that the system “supports shared spaces, neighborhoods, and persistent zones where you can live alongside other players”, while stating that it is not offering “full player-built cities or territory control in the traditional MMO sense”.

The stated reason is worth quoting because it names the failure it is avoiding: the focus has shifted “from territorial ownership toward personal expression, meaningful community-building, and stability—avoiding the land rush issues that created frustration in the past”.

What is still unknown

Whether housing plots are limited in number and how they are allocated remain unspecified. The Wccftech interview describes shared, persistent housing zones with parallel channels; this is a reported statement, not a directly published rulebook. A housing video was published in July 2026 and reported by Massively Overpowered on 30 July, but its contents have not been transcribed here.
