ArcheAge Chronicles explains PvP channels and their rules
A 4 October Steam deep dive explains where players can attack one another, how channel switching works and what the Next Fest demo includes. It also separates confirmed demo features from ideas that remain early planning.

Two channel types, different PvP rules
In its 4 October Steam announcement, XLGAMES says each zone is split into channels, separate instances of that same zone. A typical channel holds about 100 players, although some caps vary by purpose. The studio calls this a design choice it will keep monitoring. It is not a total for an entire zone or server.
Standard channels do not allow players to attack one another. In PvP channels, players can attack anyone outside their party and guild; monsters and quests stay the same. A Nui Statue lets players switch channels, with a cooldown that prevents an instant escape from a fight. Parties stay together across zones, and a player can hop to join a friend in another channel.
Right now a typical channel holds about 100 players. Some channels have different caps depending on what they’re for.

What the October demo adds
The 4 October post initially described PvP channels as open from the start of the Steam Next Fest demo. Ham’s 18 October letter specifies that players can enter one after leaving the first town and reaching the Nui Statue at their next destination. This is earlier access than in the normal game, not a promise of PvP from character creation. All four classes are playable, each with two weapons. The separate 1 October notice gives the 19–26 October dates and confirms the demo is free with no application; our demo report covers access details.
Monster kills in PvP channels currently grant 10–15% bonus EXP, a still-tuned amount that the studio says has only a modest overall effect. Defeating another player gives no reward at present. The demo has a kill log and PvP achievements; rankings and trophies may arrive after launch, but that is not a promise.
What the studio has not promised
The post describes no set objectives or scheduled battles at this stage; conflict is meant to be player-driven. These channel rules do not announce that the mass warfare or territorial conquest previously removed from the design has returned.
Trade runs through PvP channels and guilds fighting over trade posts are early planning, not a confirmed feature. Choose a standard channel to quest without player attacks, or a PvP channel for the modest monster EXP bonus and the risk of being attacked.
